ABOUT US
Stay FocusED was founded by a group of college students during the CHIMEHACK4 hackaton. The purpose of Stay FocusED is to provide quality education to refugee camp girls in Kenya. The targeted group are girls ages 10-16 years old.
How are we providing quality education?
Every semester a group of college students from San Jose State University will work on the Education in a Box project, where they will turn a shipping container into a classroom.
With every shipping container, there will be included 3 solar panels, used to power the classroom. 25 tablets with keyboards that will include e-books and the necessary applications to enhance learning. 7 long tables and 21 chairs.
How will we ensure the girls stay motivated to continue their education?
Stay FocusED has a mentor program app. The purpose of the mentorship program is to help refugee girls stay motivated by having someone they look up and having someone that will help them and guide them.
